Safe and Fuel Efficient Driving (SAFED (VAN))
Initially SAFED was focussed on truck drivers and, following its introduction and its implementation programme, 375 trainers and 6375 drivers were trained. This was such a success that the Department for Transport were keen to transfer the same success and develop a training course specifically for van drivers.
The training course was developed and for details of those involved use the link below to the ‘SAFED' website where additional information can be found.
In essence, the results from the pilot of the new van course revealed that;
“...on average the fuel economy was improved by some 9% with drivers stating that they felt more in control with their vehicles and as a result less stressed. They also indicated that the time the route took to complete was the same or shorter and the wear and tear on the vehicle was reduced as a result of fewer stops and less gear changing”.
I can confirm that I have attended, and passed the appropriate training course to provide training to van drivers, under the SAFED scheme and should you require any additional information or if you want to know more about what the training can offer please either use the link below or contact me.
